Brief history

The faculty of pharmacy was organized at the kyrgyz state medical institute in 1981. The course of botany and pharmacognosy was created on the basis of the department of biology under the direction of professor M.A. Aimambetova. Associate professor S.A.Abdyrasulov was appointed responsible for the botany course, pharmacognosy teacher A.D. Muratalieva.

S.A.Abdyrasulov

Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor

In 1998, the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology of Dosage Forms was organized, which included a course in botany and pharmacognosy. In 2000, the Institute of Pharmacy was created under the direction of Associate Professor S.A. Abdyrasulova. In 2005, there was a division into two departments: pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy; Department of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Medicines Technology. In 2009 The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy was renamed to the Department of Pharmacognosy and Drug Chemistry, which is currently headed by Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor, and member of the Pharmacopoeial Committee of the Eurasian Economic Union A.D. Muratalieva.

General info

The department has qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel with many years of experience, who have been working since the founding of the Faculty of Pharmacy, associate professors Abdyrasulov S.A., Sabirova T.S., Dzhusupova J.J., Muratalieva A.D. The scientific and pedagogical potential of the department consists of 26 employees, including 5 candidates of pharmaceutical sciences, 1 doctor of chemical sciences, 1 candidate of medical sciences, 2 candidates of biological sciences, 2 candidates of chemical sciences, 6 senior teachers, 5 teachers, 1 senior laboratory assistant and 3 laboratory assistants.

The Department of FGZ and CHL adheres to the system of continuous pharmaceutical education of the Kyrgyz Republic, and has 2 directions: undergraduate pharmaceutical education: higher professional pharmaceutical and secondary vocational pharmaceutical education, postgraduate pharmaceutical education: residency in the specialty, Pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy, advanced training for pharmacists. The department introduces the state Kyrgyz language into the educational process. Curricula and teaching and methodological recommendations are being developed in the Kyrgyz language.

Scientific work is aimed at the consistent creation of an integrated management system for providing the population of the Kyrgyz Republic with herbal medicines from local medicinal plant materials. The initiative theme of the department is “Comprehensive system for the rational use of natural medicinal resources of the Kyrgyz Republic.” The department works closely with leading universities in the CIS countries: the 1st Moscow Medical Academy named after I.M. Sechenov, Novosibirsk State Medical Academy, Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute, Bashkir State Medical University, as well as with scientific institutes: Institute of Chemistry and Phytotechnology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and other departments of KSMA named after I.K. Akhunbaeva.

The Department of Pharmacognosy and Chemistry of Medicines was awarded the Certificate of Honor “Mykty Department”.

Educational and methodological work

The department introduces the state Kyrgyz language into the educational process. Curricula and teaching and methodological recommendations are being developed in the Kyrgyz language. The documentation of the department is gradually translated into the state language. The department pays great attention to educational and methodological work. More than 30 educational and methodological recommendations, 2 textbooks “Russian-Latin-Kyrgyz-English dictionary on the system of classification of medicinal plants”, “Pharmaceutical bioethics”, 1 textbook “Pharmacognosy” have been published. The department is equipped with stands in the state language (“Bizdin mekenibiz Kyrgyzstan, trade union burchu, Fitofarm burchu”). In the subjects of pharmacognosy and botany, the study of the names of plants and raw materials is carried out in the Kyrgyz language.

STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLE

In May 1949, the All-Union Scientific Pharmaceutical Society was formed in Moscow, which was of great importance for the Kirghiz SSR; under its leadership, in 1977, the first congress of pharmacists of the Kirghiz SSR was held in the city of Frunze. The second congress took place in 1983, and the third in 1989. After gaining sovereignty in 2003, the first congress of pharmacists of the Kyrgyz Republic was held. With the formation of the Faculty of Pharmacy of KSMI in 1981, pharmaceutical scientific circles began to represent the scientific community. In 1983, under the leadership of Muratalieva A.D.

A student scientific circle was created at the department, which was later renamed “Fitofarm”. The composition of the SNK “Fitofarm” is annually updated by students from 1st to 5th year to 20 people. Teachers of the department, together with students, carry out research work in various areas in the field of pharmacy. They take an active part in scientific and practical conferences of young scientists and students of KSMA and in other universities of the CIS countries, reaching great heights.

In 2019 at the 1st Moscow Medical University named after. I.M. Sechenov hosted the VI All-Russian Olympiad in Organic Chemistry with international participation, dedicated to the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements. According to the results of the Olympiad, the participants of “Fitofarm” showed good results, 2nd year student Zhaly uulu Nursultan was awarded a diploma “For the best result among students” In 2021, the Kazakh National University. S.D. Asfendiyarov organized and held online the Republican Olympiad with international participation, in which 11 teams from 5 universities, from two republics (Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan) competed. KSMA named after. I.K. Akhunbaev was presented by the Fitofarm team. Which took 2nd place in the field of “Clinical Pharmacy”, team captain Zhakypova D., and was awarded the “Breakthrough of the Year” nomination.
