One of the main sections of pediatrics was childhood infectious diseases. Therefore, the course “childhood infectious diseases” was studied at the Department of Hospital Pediatrics B.F. Shagan until 1971.

The first head of the course was Associate Professor I.P. Mankina. Associate Professor Sh.I. played a major role in organizing an independent department, preparing a clinical base, and recruiting personnel. Erkinbaev.

His main scientific research was devoted to an urgent problem -

the diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis in children. His educational and pedagogical activities continued until the 90s.He mentored many of the department's current faculty members.

Simultaneously with Sh.I. Erkinbayev worked with assistants M.A. Sosnova, Ya.D. Penner, W.S. Chikhalova, Zh.AAsankozhoev, Biryukova N.I. Each of them is distinguished by responsibility and conscientiousness towards sick children and students whom they taught.

They, as leading specialists, advised patients in the most remote areas of the Republic, participated in the elimination of epidemics of infectious diseases in children (poliomyelitis, measles, viral hepatitis, acute intestinal infections), and also consistently advised and helped young employees of the department, trained specialists.

In 1971, an independent department of pediatric infectious diseases was organized, and it was headed by Professor N.M. Zlatkovskaya, who had previously worked at one of the leading research institutes in Moscow. She devoted her scientific research to the problem of enteroviral infections in children. Under her leadership, the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel of our university began intensively, and the following candidates defended their dissertations: Turgunbaev O.T., Kleymenova I.S., Lipkin B.N., Osmonalieva G.T., Tobokalova S.T.

From 1984 to 1993, the department was headed by Associate Professor Ya.D. Penner, who was also the dean of the pediatric faculty of KSMA. His scientific research was devoted to a common infectious pathology of children in our region - acute intestinal infections. Under his leadership, A.A. defended his Ph.D. thesis. Turatbekova, E.P. The Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is one of the 5 pediatric departments, which makes a great contribution to the training of pediatricians and general practitioners.

For 53 years, the department has trained dozens of clinical residents and interns who successfully work in various parts of our country and abroad.

The prevalence of infectious diseases among children, who make up a large proportion of the country's population, confirms the importance of the discipline and the department for the country's health care. 

Preserving the traditions and experience laid down by our teachers, today the Department of Children's Infectious Diseases is a scientific, methodological, treatment and advisory center on the problem of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases in children. Employees of the department actively participate in eliminating epidemics, providing urgent assistance in all regions of the republic, and introducing new scientific developments into medical institutions.

THE DEPARTMENT WORKS WITH STUDENTS IN A SCIENTIFIC STUDENT CIRCLE.

On April 4-5, 2024, the international scientific and practical conference “Modern aspects of parasitology and current problems of intestinal infections” was held at the Bukhara Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Bin Synonym. At which were leading scientists from the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Turkey, etc. Teachers from KSMA named after I.K. Akhunbaev and 6th year pediatric students took an active part in the conference. Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Children's Infectious Diseases M.K. Mambetova made presentations on the problem of acute respiratory infections in children.

            

In the competition for young scientists, our students took prizes: 1st place and 3rd place.

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR “PROVIDING CARE FOR HIV AND RELATED INFECTIONS”

September 26-27, 2023 at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev’s medical education program in Kyrgyzstan held a seminar on the topic “Providing care for HIV and related infections.” HIV remains a major global public health problem: the virus has claimed 40.4 million lives to date and transmission continues worldwide. Thus, in Kyrgyzstan there are trends in the number of new cases of infection.

There is no way to completely cure HIV infection. However, as access to effective prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care for HIV and opportunistic infections has expanded, HIV has become a manageable chronic disease.

WHO, the Global Fund and UNAIDS have developed global HIV strategies to end the HIV epidemic by 2030. To achieve this goal, 95% of all people living with HIV must know their status, and 95% of them must receive life-saving antiretroviral therapy, which will help reduce the risk of onward transmission of HIV. All these issues were raised at the seminar, and a joint discussion of the problem was held with international colleagues from London.

I CONGRESS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF INFECTIONISTS AND HEPATOLOGISTS OF KYRGYZSTAN

September 29-30 at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev took place at the 1st Congress of the Association of Infectious Diseases and Hepatologists of Kyrgyzstan dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Academician of the Russian Academy of Economics, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, founder of the scientific school “Study of Viral Hepatitis in the Kyrgyz Republic” Tobokalova Saparbu Tobokalovna.

WHO estimates that there are 296 million people worldwide living with chronic hepatitis B, with approximately 1.5 million new infections occurring each year. Hepatitis B kills approximately 820,000 people worldwide each year, mainly due to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Particular attention is paid to the prevention of hepatitis.

During the congress, current issues of hepatology and other infectious diseases were covered. International scientists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Korea, Uzbekistan and the USA took part in the congress.
