One of the special departments with its own specificity in KGMA is the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences, as it fulfills the educational and general educational role.

In the work of the Department the following tasks are always in the foreground:

- Development of personal qualities, creative individuality of the student,

- Formation of moral and ethical values,

- Knowledge of history and respect for the traditions of the Kyrgyz people,

- Teaching the culture of life, guiding the student to acquire general cultural and professional growth of personality.

The study of the disciplines taught at the Department (Philosophy, History of Kyrgyzstan, Manasology, and Geography of Kyrgyzstan) is an approved experience of mankind in the formation of such qualities: citizenship, humanity, responsibility, development of clinical and systemic thinking.

In 1966, the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences was established in KGMA, including two departments: 1) Philosophy; 2) History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.  Teachers of these departments trained and educated not only future specialists in the field of medicine, but also future scientists, gifted prominent public figures and talented personalities not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in other countries of near and far abroad. And in this great merit and the role of teachers of the Department of Philosophy and OH, actively equipping future specialists with a philosophical worldview.

By the decision of the Academic Council of KSMA from 22.12.2017 (Protocol № 4) the Department was named after the first head, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of KR, Prof. T.A. Abdyldaev.

During the period of its existence the structure of the Department of Philosophy underwent a number of changes, carried out in order to improve the level of training and taking into account modern requirements in the field of education and science.

Since 1966, the department was headed by Abdyldaev Tabyldy Abdyldaevich, Doctor of Philosophy, professor, who is a well-known specialist in the field of dialectics and theory of cognition. From 1988 to 1999 the duties of the head of the department were performed by professor Emilia Irincheevna Ismailova, Ph.D., professor, from 1999 to 2004,  professor Umut Asanovna Asanova, from 2004 to 2006, Phd, Associate Professor Pavel Grigorievich Chizhov, from 2007 to 2010, Doctor of Philosophy, acting Professor Umut Asanovna Asanova, from 2010 to 2015, Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor Gulzat Karybekovna Aalieva, since 2015 the department is headed by Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor Cholpon Sabyrovna Usupova.

The department is located in the educational building №4 of KGMA.

There are 6 classrooms and 2 teaching rooms assigned to the department, which have the necessary equipment and design. The department has 4 computers, 3 printers, 4 notebooks, 2 projectors.

Teachers of the department take an active part in improving the educational program and increasing the effectiveness of training, taking into account modern requirements. The faculty of the department carries out research work on the theme: "Historical and philosophical aspects of folk medicine". The results of research work on the theme are reflected in the publications of scientific articles more than 50 and monographs, teaching aids: "Workshop on philosophy" in co-authorship; "Kyrgyz-Kazakh economic and cultural interrelations: experience and prospects of cooperation". The chair has a successful cooperation on realization of academic mobility with S.D. Asfendiyarov KNMU (Astana), OshGU, J. Balasagyn KGNU, MUKR. The chair carries out research and development with the Dissertation Council for the defense of dissertations on philosophical sciences, acting as a Leading Organization. From the faculty members of the department received diplomas of the title of associate professor, confirmed by the NAC KR: Tentigul kyzy Nazira (2021); Satybaldieva R.A. (2023). Also for fruitful work were marked by various awards: Usupova Ch.S. - medal of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic "For innovative ideas in education", gold medal of the Congress of Women of the Kyrgyz Republic "Leaderlik үчүн", Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic; Tentigul kyzy Nazira - Title "Excellent Educator"; Satybaldieva R.A. - Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic; Ismailova A.K.- Certificate of Honor of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.

At the Department operates a student scientific circle "Logos" (head.Satybaldieva R.A.) on the development of creative thinking, interest in research and development.

• The curatorial work plan consists of the following sections:
• - Organizational (Discussion of orgmoments, familiarization of students with the internal regulations, with the plan of curatorial work for the upcoming academic year, participation in subject conferences and olympiads, the main types of classes (BRS), the importance of the platform "Moodle", "ZOOM", "AVN".);

- basic (A curatorial hour dedicated to the International Day of the Elderly to draw attention to the difficulties and problems of the older generation. Discussion of the role of volunteer activity. Visit to the memorial complex Ata-Beyit, timed to the Day of History and the memory of ancestors. Curatorial hours: dedicated to the celebration of "December 4 - the day of the epic "Manas", discussion of issues - March 3 - the day of the flag of the Kyrgyz Republic, March 5 - "Kalpak Day", March 20 - "Nooruz: history and peculiarities", "May 9 - Victory Day");

Within the curatorial work with students, teachers of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of KSMA named after I.Akhunbaev organized cooperation with the Municipal Institution "Center for Children in Difficult Life Situation "Akniyet" of the Department of Social Development of the Mayor's Office of Bishkek. It was adopted at the meeting of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences to maintain constant communication with "Akniyet" and plan to visit other groups with educational, educational activities. The plan of events was drawn up, topics were determined and agreed with the management of the "Center for Children "Akniyet".
