The Department of Cardiac and Endovascular Surgery is founded in 2019. The rapid development of modern technologies in the field of medicine served as a basis for the organization of this department, the main goal of which is to train highly qualified interventional cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and X-ray endovascular surgeons. At present 5 professors and 5 candidates of medical sciences work at the department, 5 of them are honored doctors of the Kyrgyz Republic and 4 are laureates of the State Prize in the field of science and technology of the Kyrgyz Republic.

When studying the subject of cardiac surgery and interventional radiology, the main educational and methodological methods of training are used: the work of residents at lectures, practical classes, defense of clinical case histories, in-depth study of certain sections of the course on reference books and monographs, independent examination of patients. The Cardiac Surgery and  Endovascular Surgery program is tailored to teach postgraduate training.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, prepare all documents on teaching and learning activities. In this regard, to revise and supplement all methodological developments for residents and teachers in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the educational-methodical complex of KSMA.

In the current academic year it is planned to approve the program of postgraduate education in the specialty of "Vascular and Interventional radiology", as well as the issue of methodological developments typographically for clinical residents and doctors: "Endovascular treatment of congenital heart disease" in Kyrgyz and Russian languages. In the following years, it is planned to issue at least 2-3 methodological developments annually.

Supplement and revise 25% of assignments for computerized testing of clinical residents annually. Annually by own efforts of the staff prepare phantoms and simulators to test the practical skills of clinical residents in the specialty of cardiac surgery and endovascular surgery.

Annually update and supplement the number of demonstration training films on endovascular and surgical correction in all sections of heart and vascular diseases.

In the future it is planned to organize a simulation center with the support of "FSBI National Medical Center of Cardiovascular Surgery named after A.N. Bakulev" of the Ministry of Health of Russia", which will allow clinical residents to better master manual skills.

In 2023-2024 according to the agreements between I.K. Akhunbaev KSMA with " FSBI "National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery named after A.N. Bakulev" of the Ministry of Health of Russia, NSCC Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan, the First Hospital of Hebei University (PRC) it is planned to train clinical residents in the specialty of cardiac surgery and endovascular surgery.

According to the plan of the department there are professional development courses for teaching staff on pedagogy according to the schedule.

In 2023, together with the National Center of Cardiology and Therapy named after Academician M. Mirrakhimov, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic approved the scientific theme: Acute coronary syndrome in patients at high risk of bleeding. Project leader Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor M.H.Dadabaev. All members of the department work on a scientific topic according to an individual plan.

Employees of the department work on the development of clinical protocols for endovascular treatment of acute coronary syndrome and chronic coronary syndrome. Future clinical protocols are planned for congenital heart disease and structural heart valve disease.

At the department are carried out dissertation work for the degree of candidate of medical sciences by assistants Abdurashidov S.A. and Eshmambetova A.A.

When performing these works we closely cooperate with the First Hospital of Hebei University (PRC) and the Kazakh Research Institute of Maternity and Childhood Protection in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan).

March 27-29, 2024 employees of the department took an active part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Mirrahimov Readings", Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, as well as along with this, it is planned to participate in the International Conference "TCT Russia" in Moscow (RF).

Active participation in the "Science Days" of KSMA is planned. To this end, a minimum of 2-3 scientific reports should be prepared annually by clinical residents and graduate students.

For the 2023-2024 academic year, 3 research articles in periodicals in the KR and 4 articles outside the country are planned. In the following years, the production of scientific articles will be carried out according to the department's plan for scientific work.

All members of the department plan to actively participate in scientific and practical conferences and congresses held under the auspices of the Association of Internal Medicine Physicians of the Kyrgyz Republic, European Association of Cardiologists, Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of the Russian Federation.

Since 2023, the department staff and clinical residents have been participating in the program of 24-hour endovascular care for patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. Between 10-15 interventions are performed daily. Along with this, the introduction of modern endovascular technologies for endovascular implantation of heart valves (TAVI) and installation of stentgraphs for aortic aneurysm is planned for 2023-2024. For this purpose it is planned the internship of two employees of the department of the leading centers of Russia, Turkey and Kazakhstan.

In 2023 - 2024 it is planned to organize master classes with participation of foreign specialists on the following topics: "Endovascular methods of treatment of structural heart valve diseases", "Endovascular treatment of aorta and its branches", "Rotoblator technique in the treatment of chronic occlusions of coronary arteries" on the basis of NCCT Endovascular techniques in the treatment of chronic occlusions of coronary arteries".

Next year we will prolong agreements with public and private cardiology and cardiac surgery institutions on mutual cooperation. We will involve experienced physicians in teaching activities and as mentors of clinical residents.

At all these bases, the department staff and clinical residents take an active part in therapeutic work. Daily assistance is provided to patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system, namely endovascular interventions for acute coronary syndrome, surgical operations for congenital, acquired heart defects and coronary heart disease.
