KSMA employees completed an internship in ERCP in Nepal

From August 11 to September 6, 2025 with the German Gastrofoundation’s support KSMA employees – endoscopists of the Department of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy of the RDTC Osmonaliev B.K., Atakulov B.A. and endoscopist Niyazov K.A. – completed an internship in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) at the Department of Endoscopy of the Kathmandu University Hospital (Dhulikhel, Nepal).
 
 
The training took place under the guidance of PhD Dr. Ram Gurung. During the internship, the doctors mastered the basics of the ERCP technique, including the preparation and evaluation of patients, indications and contraindications to the procedure, technique of performing selective cannulation of CBD, as well as the removal of stones from the bile ducts.
The acquired knowledge and skills will become the basis for the implementation of the ERCP methodology in the RDTC, which will significantly expand the possibilities of diagnosis and treatment of patients with diseases of the biliary system in the republic.
